Xiaomi Forays Into Pakistani Smartphone Market with Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4A and Mi Mix

As part of its Global Expansion vision, Xiaomi has finally forayed into Pakistan. The Chinese consumer electronic company has been bullish and is expanding its foothold outside the domestic market. In fact, India has been one of its strongest markets and it managed to sell a staggering 250,000 unit of Redmi Note 4 in a matter of 10 minutes.

Xiaomi has partnered with Smart Link Technologies in Pakistan for distribution and after sales. The company has also inked a deal with Rocket Internet owned e-commerce marketplace, Daraz, which apart from Pakistan also has presence in Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka. Xiaomi will begin with three models including the budget Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4A and the Mi Max. In the future, Xiaomi is also expected to bring the Mi Band 2 in Pakistan but its still unclear on whether or not they will introduce their entire lineup.

Meanwhile, according to IDC 13 Million smartphone have been shipped in Pakistan in 2016. While the smartphone market in Pakistan might still not be as lucrative as the other emerging countries companies like Huawei and Oppo have already established themselves in the country. Also, the very fact that Pakistan still prefers brick and mortar stores is set to create a bottleneck for Xiaomi, which has been predominantly an online exclusive. Yet another interesting fact is that Pakistan is adding up one million 3G and 4G connections each month and with this, the mobile penetration is only set to increase.

Xiaomi has been rivaling the likes of Huawei, Oppo, and other budget offerings, despite being a bit sluggish Xiaomi expanded to markets like United States, Brazil, India, and Indonesia. Xiaomi was in the news recently after it managed to rake a staggering revenue of $1-Billion in India but despite the figures, Xiaomi has quietly slipped to the fifth spot as far as total smartphone shipments in 2016 is concerned. That said Xiaomi has been ramping up its Offline presence in India and they may replicate the same in Pakistan as well.
