Apple's 10th-anniversary device to be called 'iPhone Edition'

The Cupertino tech-giant appears to be considering numerous features including the display size, the camera specifications and the connectivity options.

There is no official word on what the 2017 iPhone will be called and when it will be officially launched. Previously, speculations have suggested that the device will be called ‘iPhone 8’ and numerous reports claimed that the smartphone will be launched sometime in September. However, a new report now suggests that the device will be called ‘iPhone Edition’ and while, the device will be unveiled alongside iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus in September, the official release of the device will be much later than usual.

According to a report published by Japanese news site Macotakara, the highly-anticipated smartphone’s actual release date will be much later than Apple’s usual timeline. The report also goes on to suggest that the company is testing a range of prototypes for its device this year and they are yet to decide on the final design yet.

There are many devices that come without the home button, however others come equipped with chassis designs, glass, ceramic or aluminium. “Specifically, the company is said to be prototyping models with and without the Home button, as well as models with glass, ceramic, and aluminum chassis designs. Additionally, Apple is apparently testing models with LCD TFT and OLED displays,” the 9to5Mac report reads.
